The annual Little Current Christmas Bazaar is quickly arriving ( Dec 3 & 4 ) Please remember to bring at least 3 new items wrapped, price and labled as to who the are suited for. Eg. boy, girl, man, or woman. Keep in mind that some help may be needed.

Our November 22nd meeting is going to be our annual awards night (usually held in June) at the Anchor Inn. If you plan to attend please bring canned goods that we can donate to the island food bank. The food bank is always under great demand this time of year, so lets try to help as much as we can.

I thank Lion Carrie for her excellent November bulletin, you will I know be hearing more from her in the coming months.

Well here we are into the last month of the year already, my goodness time goes by so fast it seems, and each and every on of us seems to be so busy, but at this special time of the year take time to reflect on the past year, and also to enjoy the company of family and friends at the festive season, where most of us spend too much, eat too much and do too much, please remember there are people this year who will find Christmas difficult please give them a thought as you celebrate your holiday season.

We would like to welcome two new Lions to our Club.  Lion Bill Wilson who has transferred from the Gore Bay Club, and his wife Lion Darlene Wilson who is a brand new Lion. We are very pleased to have them as members, and I know we will welcome in the great Sheguiandah manner, and make them feel very welcome in our club, and of course find jobs for them to do.

Congratulations to all the Lions and to those also who received special awards during our awards dinner on November 22nd.  Everyone does a great job and the best that they can. Keep up the good work.   Also to those who contributed to the Food Bank we say a BIG THANK YOU, we often do not realize how much we have and sometime how little other people have.  If we can share and help someone’s burden be lighter we must do so.

Our Christmas Bazaar is over for another year, our Touch and Take Table made $161.00 and we only sold $15.00 in toys, there was not a good turn out of people for the weekend at all, all participants were disappointed with this.   We thank Lions Connie and Ann for their work in setting the sale up and working both days, and also taking everything down again to pack it up.  Also to Lions Rena and Carol
{who ran around selling our 50/50 tickets, way to go Lion Carol}, who were helping out on Friday evening.  The remainder of our toys were given to Children’s Aid to be distributed to those less fortunate over the Christmas Season.    Next years Christmas bazaar will be November 25th, and 26th 2005.

We will be having our Annual Christmas Party on December 6th at 6pm  at Lion Kendra Vitone’s home at 24 Nelson Street Manitowaning.  Pot Luck.

On December 22nd Lion Carol Windover will be presenting our cheque during the awards night at MSS at 7pm. {Note bold and underlined for Lion Carol’s benefit in case she forgets!

Fun Page:

There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more meaning than any other two-letter word and that is “UP”

It’s easy to understand UP meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we waken in the morning, why do we wake UP?

At a meeting, why does a topic come UP?  Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the Secretary to write UP a report?

We call UP our friends, and we brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver, we warm UP the leftovers, and clean UP the kitchen.  We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car.

At other times the little word has real special meaning.  People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite and think UP excuses.

To be dressed is one thing, but to be dressed UP is special.

A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP.

We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.

We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP!

When it threaten to rain we say it is clouding UP, when the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP

When it rains it wets UP the earth.  When it doesn’t rain for a while things dry UP.

One could go on and on but I’ll wrap it UP, for now my time is UP, so........
I’ll shut UP....!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY:
December 17th Lion Russ Moore
December 22nd Lion Carol Windover

We would like to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas, and if you are traveling to be with family, please allow yourself plenty of time to get there, and take great care on the roads.

Have a wonderful Christmas Season.

Congratulation to all Officers.  May we be able to work together to make Sheguiandah a great club.
Convention is coming up on April 22nd 23rd, 24th.  Lions Frank & Connie, Carol, Kendra and Sandra K will be attending all dressed up in their western garb.  We hope that they have fun.

April 30th is the day that has been planned for our fund raising dinner, to raise funds for the Food Bank, it will be held at the Anglican Church in Little Current, from 5pm to 7pm.  There will also be take out that day, the Committee will be getting things organized.  Several of our Lions have donated Hams, and potatoes, and others will be contacted for donations also.  The phone committee will be contacting all Lions as to what is expected that day and find out who will be able to work.  The Menus will be Ham, Mashed Potatoes, Mixed Vegetables, Salads, and Ice Cream for dessert, the cost will be approximately $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children age 5 to 8 and under 5 years old free.  The hams are to be cooked before-hand and then will be kept warm the day of the dinner.  Lion Bernie has already purchased the hams.  The coleslaw salad is not to be made ahead but the fixing brought to the church and those there will make the salad the day of the dinner.  Lion Bill Wilson was to contact the Food Bank to make sure that this was okay with them to do the fund raiser.  Lion Bernie will be making out the posters and tickets, and Lions wishing to receive tickets to sell before the next business meeting can contact Lion Bernie and go and pick up the tickets.

We now have enough funds at LCIF to present a Melvin Jones Fellowship to one of our Lions, and the phone Committee will be doing a confidential poll for suggestions of Lions worthy of this honour.

Lion Hugh is leaving for warmer climates for a while, in the hopes that it will help his arthritis, we will miss him but we wish him the very best in his travelling and look forward to having him back once our weather gets nice and warm, and also hoping this will help him health wise too..

Lions Frank & Connie who have been in Aruba we hope will come back well rested and tanned along with Lion Carrie.  Lion Connie is excited too as her first grandchild will be arriving imminently, she won’t spoil it though, just feed it all the sugar and candy she can.!!   RIGHT

Letters will be going out to the sponsors for our Golf Tournament this month and follow-up will be required on this subject to make sure we have everything in place for the Tournament in June.
Remember Lion Frank will be heading for surgery on June 5th on his other hip.  Also Lion Sandra will be having surgery on her knee in the summer also.  Also bet wishes to Lion Bruce as they travel down to see Lion Bruce’s Mum who is not doing well.

We have to get on the ball and sell our 50/50 tickets, time is running short to raise money we need to fulfil our obligations.

Lions Dwight and Ann attended the Region Rally in Massey on March 17th, only two clubs were representative of the Island Clubs.  The Governor was also in attendance.

May 12th 2005 at the Sudbury Regional Resource Centre- Sudbury Lions Club there will be a school of Instructions at 6.45pm.  There will also be one on May 15th at the Providence Bay Community Centre from 1pm to 4pm.  There will be excellent leaders at these  schools of instruction namely our own Lions Frank & Connie Reynolds, please try and attend either one of these schools, especially those who are new Officers coming into the club in the coming year, there is always valuable information to be learned.

Our twinning club in Paisley Scotland, will be deciding at their April 18th meeting if they wish to continue the commitment of twinning.  The Lion who has been the correspondent between the two clubs will be retiring from Lions after 30 years of service.  Ayr and  Prestwick  wish to continue on as our twinning club.  The South Wayne County, we have not received any word from them in over and year.   Our Australian Club does not keep in contact very often either, what are your thoughts?

Happy Birthday:
April 4th:    Lion Dave Horvath

Lion Carol Windover and Kendra Vitone were to find out information regarding incorporating the Lions Club, and Lion Bill Wilson has some information re insurance coverage making sure that our club will be covered against all incidences of negligence or whatever may happen, he will be bringing it to our next meeting. Also there is a note from LCIF about the advantages and disadvantages of incorporating.

Lion Bill was also made our Safety Officer, which duties will be of checking out areas where the Lions will be having functions and making sure all areas around are safe for people working.

Our Golf Tournament is coming up very fast on June 11th and prizes and sponsorships are starting to come in at present.   We will need workers that day, please let me know if you are available to work. Lions Frank and Connie will not be there this year as Lion Frank will be recovering from his major hip surgery again.   Also we wish Lion Sandra Pope the very best in her upcoming knee surgery in June also.

Our year end get together will probably be at Lions Frank & Connie’s home in July after Frank is back to feeling a little bit better.

This will be my last bulletin, and I personally want to wish the new bulletin editor my very best wishes in his endeavours to continue with this bulletin.   I have enjoyed doing it over the past few years, and I trust that you have enjoyed reading it, but feel now it is time to move on.
